3GNY Stories Live: WEDU Wednesday Nunu's Story: a 4G testimony featuring Aerin Kalmans

Join us March 20 for the next installment of our popular WEDU Wednesday series as 3GNY volunteer Aerin Kalmans - our first 4G to be featured in a WEDU Wednesday program - shares the story of her great-grandmother, Naomi Kaplan Warren.

Join us Via Zoom

Naomi Kaplan Warren was born in Volkovysk, Poland in 1920. The youngest of three siblings, she grew up in a house full of love and wanted for nothing.

On her 19th birthday, the Nazis invaded Poland. Over the next several years, Naomi survived three concentration camps: Auschwitz, Ravensbruk and Bergen Belsen. Upon liberation, she journeyed to the United States and eventually settled in Houston. There, she raised three children and was a successful founder and CEO of a wholesale food company. Naomi was a beacon of light and hope within the Houston Jewish community.

About Aerin

Aerin Kalmans is the great-granddaughter of Holocaust survivor Naomi Kaplan Warren, whom she affectionately knew as “Nunu.” Aerin completed 3GNY’s WEDU speaker training in 2022. She feels so grateful that she knew her great-grandmother for 16 amazing years and was able to hear Nunu's story directly from her. It is Aerin’s privilege to speak to students and keep Nunu’s legacy alive.

Aerin grew up in Houston, Texas, and has lived in New York City since 2022. She currently works in sustainable investing. She has a deep passion for storytelling and literature.
